Fixed data vs unlimited: what's the difference?

Both plan types have their place — it depends on how you travel.

Fixed-data plans

You get a set amount of data (e.g. 5 GB or 10 GB) for the validity period. Great if you mostly use maps, messaging and a little browsing. When it runs out, you simply buy more.

Unlimited plans

You get unlimited high-speed data for the length of the plan. Ideal for heavy use or hotspotting a laptop. Note: a fair-use policy may gently reduce speed after very heavy daily use, then reset the next day — this is standard across the industry.

Which should I pick?

  • Light user (maps, chat): a small fixed plan.
  • Average user (social, photos): a mid fixed plan.
  • Heavy user / hotspot: unlimited.

You can see exact prices and data amounts on each destination's plan page.
