Why is my data slow?

A few things can affect speed. Here's what to check.

Common causes

  • Fair-use policy. On some unlimited plans, speeds may be gently reduced after very heavy daily use, then reset the next day.
  • Weak coverage. Indoors, underground or in rural areas, signal can drop. Move to a window or open area.
  • Network congestion. Busy times and crowded places (airports, events) can slow any network.
  • Wrong network band. Try selecting a different local carrier manually (Settings → Network Selection).

Quick fixes

  1. Toggle Airplane mode on/off to reconnect.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. Check whether 5G/LTE is enabled in your data settings.
